Grants Made

#1   October 2016 – Bierton Parish Council – provision of defibrillators

Grant made for the installation of defibrillators at the Jubilee Hall and the Sports Hall at the Recreation Ground.

Brian Robson Chairman of Bierton Parish Council said “Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of premature death, seconds count and the ambulance service is unlikely to arrive quickly enough to resuscitate most victims but with immediate treatment lives can be saved. These Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are easy to use and very effective.  They are designed to be used by lay persons; the machines guide the operator through the process by verbal instructions and visual prompts. They are safe and will not allow a shock to be given unless the hearts rhythm requires it.  On behalf of Bierton parishioners, Bierton Parish Council is most grateful to the Mike & Claire Griffin Trust for this generous grant.”

Chariman of the Trustees, John Brown said “We are delighted to be in a position to start putting Mike’s legacy to work and feel sure that he would have approved of the defibrillators as a first step.”

The Trust commenced grant making in October 2016 and in its first year made grants totalling £55,000. These grants supported the following activity:
